Business InformationHyosung Heavy Industries has been a leader in Korea’s heavy electrical equipment industry since 1962. The company pioneered the transmission and substation sector by developing Korea’s first extra-high-voltage transformers and commercializing the world’s first 800kV Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS).
As global demand for power infrastructure grows with renewable energy expansion and grid modernization, Hyosung Heavy Industries is strengthening its competitiveness in ultra-high-voltage transformers and HVDC systems. The company became the first in Korea to localize voltage source converter HVDC technology and is constructing a dedicated HVDC production facility in Changwon, scheduled for completion in 2027.
In addition, Hyosung Heavy Industries provides grid stabilization solutions through STATCOM systems and enhances operational efficiency with its IT-based asset management platform, ARMOUR+.
Technology1) DC T&D System
- It was the first company in Korea to successfully develop HVDC system using the MMC method, which is the most advanced technology for voltage converters. We are in the process of developing a 200 MW MMC-type HVDC, and by completing the installation of a 30 MW MVDC, we will be Korea's first company to apply the voltage-type MMC converter to HVDC and MVDC technology now.
2) ARMOUR+
We have developed ARMOUR, the first asset management solution in Korea that diagnoses and analyzes the status of power facilities in real time and provides customers with efficient operation plans online throughout the life cycle. ARMOUR+, which combines IoT technology with AI-based algorithms that have accumulated our know-how, is a next-generation total asset management platform that is provided in a modular form so that any solution can be added-on.
