Company Information
- Business Information Standard Energy is a battery and energy storage system (ESS) company founded in 2013 by Ph.D. researchers from KAIST and MIT. The company developed the Vanadium Ion Battery (VIB) and VIB-based ESS solutions, combining high-power performance with non-flammable safety. Its technology was successfully demonstrated through a VIB ESS-connected ultra-fast EV charging station in Seoul. Following this achievement, the VIB industry standard was established in 2023 and product certification was obtained in 2024, accelerating commercialization. Standard Energy received CES Innovation Awards in 2025 and 2026 and was recognized by TIME as the only Korean company included in the World’s Top GreenTech Companies 2025. The company is expanding VIB ESS applications across ultra-fast EV charging, AI data centers, and urban rail systems while pursuing growth in global markets, including the United States and Japan.
