- plaSCAN is a hand-held device that identifies polymer type of a plastic product. Using NIR spectroscopy, it can accurately distinguish 9 different plastic material types (PP, PE, PS, PC, PVC, PET, ABS, PLA, PA6(Nylon)) in just 2.5 seconds. The product is used in plastic recycling industry where automatic sorting is still difficult and is also used in ocean to clean out marine waste such as fishnets. With its user-centric design, this product will save both time and cost of plastic sorting process.
