Business Information
KPX is reponsible for the operation the power market, including bidding, pricing, metering, settlement, and payment, so that fair and transparent power transactions can be made between power generation operators and sales operators.
KPX establishes operation plans for the generators and the power grid all over the country, and monitors them in real time in order to quickly respond to any anomalies. This ensures that the customers are mitigated from blackouts or brownouts 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
KPX provides support for the Korean Government`s green energy policies and plans, such as establishing the basic plan for long term electricity supply and demand.

Technology
1. Energy Management System
This system supports Korea’s uninterrupted power supply by acquiring, monitoring, and controlling power plants, substations, and transmission networks in real time. Key functions include SCADA, AGC, and NA.
2. Online Demand Forecasting System
Operated by KPX, this big data-based system collects and analyzes power and weather data to forecast electricity demand. It transforms complex data into intuitive, user-friendly information.
3. Solar Power Facility Location Technology
This AI-based system uses ultra-high-resolution aerial images to locate solar facilities. By identifying distributed PV sites precisely, it improves demand forecasting accuracy and supports grid stability.
4. CMV System
In response to volatility from rising solar power, the CMV system forecasts solar output up to 6 hours ahead. Using satellite data and AI, it calculates cloud movement vectors to estimate solar generation at 15-minute intervals.
